Robert Anderson

What themes run throughout your work? The themes are the scope of my world as I see it within my bubble covering all spectrum in life.

How do you hope your work will affect its audience? I can only hope that they can relate to my work and take something from it whether this only being a whisper.

What sounds influence your work? Classical music, birds, trees rustling, a baby crying, bombs dropping, lies and deceit.

What makes you decide to create your work? Injustice and life? An untapped whisper? An urge? I don’t know.

Where do your talents lie? In my mind I have a never ending story to paint and tell.

What successes have you had so far? I am being recognised as an artist where as before, It was my articles and poetry that was receiving all the recognition, I am beginning to receive commissions for art pieces. I am being featured all over the net, in magazines and sites. I suppose I am rather popular at the moment, I don’t know why? I have a loyal following that humbles me but at the same time flatters me.

What was the first creative thing that you ever did? Put my potty over my head.

Has anyone taught you how to use your talent better? No I have never had a lesson in my life on either writing or art. I suppose it is just installed in me.

What makes you creative? Me?

How did you get started? The building trade collapsed and I had to fill in the hours. Art and poetry were always my first love. So I bought some canvases and started chucking paint on them. I wrote a few poems. And once again I was hooked.

What inspires you? Life as seen through frosted eyes

Who inspires you? Nobody, I live in a bubble and everything I do comes from life and all it’s apocalyptic course.

What do you do when you are suffering from creative block? I have never had it.

What are you trying to achieve? Recognition? To make a difference? Maybe to be remembered? I don’t know.

Do you collaborate? Yes, I have been approached by a number of artists and photographers, to add poetry to their pieces.

Ignoring money and all of life’s woes, what would you want to be? An artist and poet.

Accepting the need for money and all of life’s woes, what do you want to be? Well I am a carpenter to trade. I had a place at art school but also a responsibility to my parents to bring home a wage. So I became a carpenter. They make good money, I don’t need a lot of wealth. As long as I have paint and canvas or a cornflakes packet to sketch and paint on, then I am happy.

What’s the most amazing thing you’ve ever seen / heard / experienced? My son and daughter being born? A child in Kenya smile over the most amazing sunset, wow!

What do you consider to be the most important thing in life? Being happy with yourself.

Who/what is your nemesis and why? I have none, myself maybe?
