What themes run throughout your work? music, nostalgia, sadness, humor, and youth
How do you hope your work will affect its audience? I hope my work is something that people can relate to, bring a story to.
What sounds influence your work? Funk, Blues, Techno, and Baroque
What makes you decide to create your work? Lately, it's deadlines. :) Seriously though, it's just something that has always been in me. The desire to create.
Where do your talents lie? I am still looking for it.
What successes have you had so far? Some children's books, magazine work, gallery shows, and cd covers
What was the first creative thing that you ever did? Finger painted or played the drums- That's what my mom tells me. I was too young to remember.
Has anyone taught you how to use your talent better? Yes I learned a lot of stuff about painting and drawing in College. Specifically from Ralph Barksdale.
What makes you creative? It's my way of dealing with the craziness of life, the stress of existing.
How did you get started? I wasn't good at much besides drawing as a kid, so it was an identity that stuck with me and then I found a way to make a living at it.
What inspires you? Everything really. My memories of childhood and the 80s, magazines, movies, cartoons, my surroundings, music, faith, spirituality, everything really.
Who inspires you? My wife, kids, a pretty or interesting face. Great artists.
What do you do when you are suffering from creative block? Change up my routine. Play video games, ride my motorcycle. Force myself to stay busy preparing panels or looking at other art. Sometimes I just start painting. I recognize that creativity comes in cycles. Sometimes you just have to wait out the doldrums.
What are you trying to achieve? Making a picture that I feel good about.
Do you collaborate? I've tried a bit in the past. I'd love to in the future. I am really short on free time though.
Ignoring money and all of life’s woes, what would you want to be? A painter and a music producer.
Accepting the need for money and all of life’s woes, what do you want to be? A painter and a designer.
What’s the most amazing thing you’ve ever seen / heard / experienced? My kids births. Most amazing thing. It's probably cliche' because it's true.
What do you consider to be the most important thing in life? My time on earth- spending it well.
Who/what is your nemesis and why? Me. There's the side of me that doesn't want to try to succeed or thinks it's a waste of time. I always have to convince myself that the art I am doing is something worthwhile.
